Lawn Mower Mufflers
If
your mower engine no longer sounds as it did when it was new, or it is
overly loud, you more than likely need a new muffler. With small mowers
that have one piece mufflers, it is to your advantage to purchase and
replace the lawnmower muffler than try to clean or repair it. Replacing a lawn mower muffler
is relatively simple. Be sure your lawnmower engine has been shut down and has had
a cooling off period. Hot mufflers can cause severe burns.
Another cause of a poor running engine could be that your muffler is choked
with carbon. If the muffler is able to come apart, you can remove the
spark arrester and, with a soft wire brush) clean it and replace.
Mill Supply carries lawnmower mufflers that fit Briggs and Stratton, Clinton, Honda,
John Deere, Kohler, Murray, Snapper, Tecumseh and Toro. By far the largest
listing we have is for Briggs and Stratton with a listing of over 20 different
styles. Each type is pictured with a clear application description. Briggs
and Stratton is one of the most popular engines used on mowers in the
past and present.
